Falcons Defeat Mines 7-0 in Men's Tennis Season Opener


    The Air Force Academy men's tennis team opened its spring season with a 7-0 victory Friday, Jan. 19, over Division II Colorado School of Mines.

    The Falcons dominated from the start as the No. 1 doubles team of Eric Pittman and Kyle Rainey beat David Rademacher and Matt Rychlik of Mines 8-2. Air Force won at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to claim the doubles point.

    Pittman rolled through his No. 1 singles match, defeating Kevin Yu 6-3, 6-2. Rene Ramirez followed suit at No. 2, beating Rademacher 6-2, 6-4, and freshman Justin Mancinelli captured his first collegiate victory, defeating Matt Rychlik at No. 4, 7-5, 6-2.

    Air Force stays at home for a dual match against Weber State University tomorrow Jan. 20 at 8 a.m. The match will be played on the indoor courts at the Cadet Gymnasium.
