Falcons Open Spring Season in California on Saturday

    The Air Force men's tennis team opens its 2009 spring season this weekend with a pair of matches in California. The Falcons will battle Point Loma Nazarene on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m., then UC Riverside on Sunday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m.

    Head coach Rich Gugat, in his 35th season with the Falcons, enters the spring season ranked No. 3 on the career wins list for active Division I head coaches with 723. Gugat has won at least 10 matches in each season at Air Force.

    Juniors Brett Rodgers and Austin Francis and freshman Cody Hall lead the Falcons on the court. Rodgers played No. 1 sinlges last season, while Francis was the No. 2 player. Hall had an impressive fall season, posting a 4-2 singles record and advanced to the semifinals of the New Mexico Balloon Fiesta Classic.
