Rodgers, Buckingham Still Alive at Regionals

    Junior Brett Rodgers and sophomore Johnny Buckingham stayed alive in the doubles consolation bracket of the Wilson/ITA Mountain Region Men's Tennis Championships Thursday in Las Vegas, Nev. The Falcon duo defeated Jordan Barlow and Matt Braithwaite of Utah State, 8-6, in the second round of the consolation draw.

    Earlier in the day, Rodgers and Buckingham dropped an 8-3 decision to Andrew Landwerlen and Martin Zimmermann of Denver in the second round. The Air Force team will face the tournament's No. 1-seeded team of Eduardo Salas and Roman Stoisavljevic of New Mexico State on Friday.

    In singles, Rodgers fell in the first round of the consolation bracket to Landwerlen, 6-1, 6-1, while junior Austin Francis split a pair of consolation matches. He defeated Jakub Dybala of Montana State 6-7, 6-4, 6-1, before losing a tough, three-set match to Cassidy Mears of BYU, 7-5, 5-7, 6-2.
