Falcons Complete Day Two at Balloon Fiesta Classic

    The Air Force men's tennis team completed the second day of the Lobo Balloon Fiesta Classic Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M. Three Falcons began the day in the quarterfinals of their respective flights, two of them advanced to the semis before losing.

    Freshman Cody Hall, who is from Albuquerque, downed the tournament's No. 1 seed, Stanley Sarapanich of Boise State, 6-3, 6-7, 6-3, in the quarters of the "A" singles flight. Hall's run came to an end in the semis, however, as he fell to Carl Ho of New Mexico, 6-3, 6-1.

    Meanwhile, in the "B" singles flight, freshman Stuart Coston won his quarterfinal match over Khang Phan of College of Santa Fe, 6-2, 6-4, before falling to Brelin Powell of Northern Arizona, 6-3, 6-3, in the semis. Sophomore Miles Maloy lost his first match of the day, a quarterfinal match to Gaston Bottale of Northern Arizona, 6-2, 6-0.

    Sophomore Alex Beaussart advanced to the semifinals of the "A" flight consolation round with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Matt Fesko of Grand Canyon College before falling, 6-4, 7-5, to Western New Mexico's Will Atkins in the semis. Senior Kyle Epperson will play in the "B" flight consolation final on Sunday after winning two matches on Saturday, 6-3, 6-2 over Andre Lepine of Northern Colorado and 8-6 over UNC's Mike Kingsley.

    In doubles action, Hall and Coston advanced to the finals of the consolation bracket with an 8-3 win over Marek Ondruj and Teddy Yelley of New Mexico Military Institute., while Beaussart and junior Mike Gies defeated Emmanuel Hecher and Devin Stroman of Western New Mexico, 8-5, to advance to the back draw final on Sunday.
