The Air Force men's tennis team kicked off its 2013-14 season Wednesday afternoon with its fourth annual Blue/Silver match. The Silver team won the match 6-1 by sweeping the three doubles matches and winning five of the six singles matches.

"Experience played a big factor in today's match," said head coach Dan Oosterhous. "Our freshmen competed well but found that they have a lot to learn about playing college tennis. Overall, it was a good start to our competitive season and we'll be ready in two weeks for our first tournament in Milwaukee."

The Silver team, led by junior Grant Taylor and sophomore Jack McCullers, won all three doubles matches 8-4. Taylor and McCullers downed senior Steven Young and freshman Lucas Fumagalli. Senior Andy Jackson and sophomore Andrew Parks beat senior Alex Grubbs and freshman Dillon Launius, while senior Ali Rizvi and junior Landon Kinsey defeated senior Alex Lineberry and freshman Nicholas Carpenter.

In singles play, Taylor and McCullers defeated Young and Fumagalli, respectively, in straight sets at the top two positions. Grubbs posted the Blue team's lone singles win by defeating Parks, 6-4, 6-2, while Kinsey and Carpenter had the only three-setter with Kinsey winning 2-6, 6-3, 1-0.

The Falcons begin the fall tournament season on Friday, Sept. 13 at the Milwaukee Classic.
