Air Force's Season Ends With 4-0 Loss to TCU @ MWC Championships

The TCU men's tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the 2007 Mountain West Conference Men's Tennis Championships Thursday with a 4-0 victory over Air Force at the Academy. TCU, seeded No. 2 at the tournament and ranked 68th in the nation, improved to 10-11 and will face the No. 3 seed, UNLV, in the semifinals on Friday, April 27 at 2 p.m. With the loss, Air Force ended its season with an 11-16 record. The Horned Frogs took an early 1-0 lead by winning the top two doubles matches. TCU's duo of Cosmin Cotet and Kriegler Brink won the No. 1 match, 8-2, over Robby Alexander and Ryan White. The doubles point was clinched when Radu Barbu and Chris Biro downed Brett Rodgers and Austin Francis, 8-5, at the No. 2 position. TCU was winning the No. 3 match, 7-6, when the match was halted. Stuart Row gave the Frogs a 2-0 lead with a decisive, 6-1, 6-0 victory over Greg Ferry at No. 6 singles. Brink made it 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles over White, who moved up from the No. 5 spot after Air Force's Mike Youn was unable to play. TCU's Cosmin Cotet, ranked 103rd in the nation, clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Robby Alexander at the No. 1 position. The other three singles matches were halted at that time.
