No. 36 BYU Downs Air Force, 7-0

The 36th-ranked BYU men's tennis team defeated Air Force, 7-0, Saturday in Provo, Utah. With the win, the Cougars improved to 18-4 overall and 5-0 in the Mountain West Conference, while the Falcons fell to 10-12 and 0-5 in league play.
The Cougars claimed the doubles point with wins at all three spots, including an 8-1 victory by Georgy Batrakov and Thomas Shubert over Lance Wilhelm and Steven Young at position No. 1. Clinching the doubles point for BYU was Spencer Smith and Roman Warias at No. 3, defeating Alex Grubbs and Sam Barnes 8-5. Patrick Kawka and Evan Urbina completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win against Taylor Soster and Andy Jackson.
In singles play, BYU won five of the six matches in straight sets, with the only three-setter coming at the top spot, where Urbina rallied from a set down to defeat Wilhelm, 3-6, 6-3, (10-2).
The Falcons close out their regular season next Saturday, April 23 against New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
