Falcons Fall to 42nd-Ranked SDSU 6-1

The No. 42 San Diego State Men's Tennis team defeated Mountain West foe Air Force, 6-1, on Friday afternoon at Aztec Tennis Center. SDSU improved to 16-7 overall and 4-0 in the MW, while Air Force fell to 10-10 and 0-4 in league play.
The Aztecs swept all three doubles matches en route to winning the doubles point. SDSU's No. 2 team of Derek Siddiqui and Shiva Sangwan defeated junior Alex Grubbs and freshman Jack McCullers, 8-2, while the Aztecs' No. 1 duo of Hunter Nicholas and Andranik Khachatryan topped senior Lance Wilhelm and sophomore Grant Taylor, 8-6, to clinch the doubles point. In addition, Juan Florez and Marvin Tawasi earned a victory over freshman Andrew Parks and junior Steven Young, 8-6, in the No. 3 slot.
SDSU kept the momentum in singles play. Nicholas defeated Young, 6-1, 6-1, in the No. 2 slot for the first singles victory of the day. Khachatryan followed with a victory over McCullers, 6-0, 6-0, to put the Aztecs ahead, 3-0, and Tawasi's win at No. 3 against Taylor, 6-2, 6-3, sealed the match victory for SDSU.
Siddiqui knocked off Wilhelm, 7-6(2), 6-1 and Florez earned a decision over Grubbs, 6-2, 6-3. Junior Andy Jackson posted Air Force's lone win of the day, defeating Sangwan 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 6 spot
Air Force plays at Nevada on Sunday, April 14.
