Falcons Fall to Nevada, 6-1

The Air Force men’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Nevada Friday afternoon in a Mountain West match at the Academy. With the victory, the Wolf Pack improved to 15-3 overall and 2-1 in the MW while the Falcons fell to 12-9 and 0-4.
Air Force’s No. 3 doubles team of junior Grant Taylor and freshman Lucas Fumagalli were off the court first with an 8-5 victory over Fernando Sunago and Andrew Poustie, but Nevada won the other two matches. Victor Ouvrard and Robert Allan downed senior Alex Grubbs and sophomore Jack McCullers 8-5 at the top spot, then Quentin Mege and Moez Chargui clinched the point with an exciting 8-7(5) victory over senior Andy Jackson and sophomore Andrew Parks at the No. 2 position.
The Wolf Pack won the first five singles matches off the court, including a 6-3, 6-2 win by Ouvrard over Jackson at No. 1 and Ryan Andrada a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Parks at No. 5. The other four matches went to three sets and Mege clinched the team match with a 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 triumph over senior Steven Young at the No. 3 spot.
Grubbs posted AFA’s lone singles victory with a thrilling 7-6(4), 6-7(4), 1-0(10) victory over Poustie at the No. 4 spot. Grubbs improved to 17-10 overall and 14-5 in dual matches, including a 13-3 mark at the No. 4.
The Falcons close out their home schedule on Sunday, April 13 against Utah State beginning at 11 a.m. AFA’s five seniors will be honored in a pre-match ceremony.
