San Diego State Shuts Out Air Force, 7-0

The Air Force men's tennis team lost its third consecutive Mountain West Conference match, 7-0, to San Diego State Friday at the Aztec Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif. The Aztecs swept the three doubles matches, then won all six singles matches in straight sets. With the victory, the 75th-ranked Aztecs improved to 8-11 overall and 2-0 in the MWC, while Air Force fell to 10-8 and 0-3.
The Utes jumped out to an early 1-0 lead wins at all three doubles spots. Air Force senior Austin Francis and freshman Lance Wilhelm produced the best match, falling to the nation's 76th-ranked team of Juan Gomez and Luis Raatenhuber, 8-6.
In singles play, the Aztecs cruised through all six matches and did not lose more than seven games in any of them. Francis had the closest match, falling to Gomez, 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot. Achim Vladimirschii won the No. 1 singles match, dominating Wilhelm, 6-1, 6-0, while Tim Schultz van Endert clinched the team match with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Alex Beaussart at No. 5.
Air Force returns to action on Sunday, April 11 against UNLV in Las Vegas, Nev. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. (PT).
