Air Force Drops 7-0 Decision to New Mexico

The University of New Mexico men's tennis team defeated Air Force, 7-0, on Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M. The Lobos are now 2-0 in Mountain West Conference play and 15-6 overall, while the Falcons fell to 10-13 overall and 0-5 in the MWC. In doubles, Graeme Kassautzki and Joe Wood made quick work of Mike Gies and Harrison Maloy with an 8-0 win at the No. 3 spot. Johnny Parkes and Miles Bugby gave the Lobos a 1-0 advantage with an 8-2 victory over Austin Francis and Alex Beaussart at the No. 2 position. Max Jones and Kamil Pajkowski finished the sweep by beating Brett Rodgers and Taylor Soster, 8-3, at the top spot. In singles, Bugby played at No. 4 and delivered a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Johnny Buckingham. Then Parkes scored a 6-0, 6-1 win against Francis on the No. 2 court and Jones, ranked 41st, gave the Lobos the dual with a 6-1, 6-2 victory on the No. 1 court against Rodgers. Pajkowski won at No. 4 with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Beaussart. Kassautzki trailed 2-0 to Soster in the second set but took the match 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3. Derek Lynch won his first set on the No. 6 court but Gies won the second set to send the match into a third set super tiebreaker. Gies collected the first few points but Lynch took over to win 6-1, 2-6, 10-5.
