Falcons Drop 6-1 Decision to Denver; Host TCU on Thursday at 11 a.m.

The Air Force men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision Tuesday to in-state rival Denver at the Academy. The Falcons fell to 9-7 this spring, while DU improved to 4-12.
The Pioneers captured the doubles point with wins at the top two spots. Andrew Landwerlen and Jens Vorkefeld started things off with an 8-4 win at No. 1 over senior Taylor Soster and freshman Lucas Marin-Salcedo. AFA's No. 3 team of freshmen Andy Jackson and Alex Grubbs took the No. 3 match, defeating Alex Clinkenbeard and Varun Gunaseeluan, 9-8, winning the tiebreak 7-4. The doubles point then hinged on the No. 2 match, where DU's duo of Enej Bonin and Yannick Weihs, edged AFA sophomore Lance Wilhelm and freshman Steven Young, 9-8, saving two match points in the tiebreak to win, 9-7.
DU kept the momentum in singles, winning at the top five spots in straight sets. Bonin, ranked 55th in the country, led things off with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Wilhelm at the No. 1 spot. Grubbs won AFA's lone singles match, defeating Angel Alvarez, 6-0, 6-4, at the No. 6 position.
The Falcons host TCU on Thursday, March 31 at the Academy. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
