TCU Beats Air Force, 7-0, in MWC Opener

The Air Force men's tennis team dropped its first Mountain West Conference match of the season Thursday, falling 7-0 to No. 31 TCU at Las Vegas, Nev. TCU improved to 14-5 overall, while the Falcons fell to 10-9.
The Horned Frogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead after sweeping the three doubles matches and never looked back. Cosmin Cotet and Kriegler Brink opened the match with n 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles over Air Force sophomore Brett Rodgers and freshman Taylor Soster. Emanu Brighiu and Zach Nichols followed suit at No. 2 with an 8-5 decision over sophomore Austin Francis and freshman Alex Beaussart, while Jack Seider and Caleb Bulls defeated sophomore Mike Gies and freshman Johnny Buckingham, 8-3, at No. 3.
The Frogs swept through all six singles matches in straight sets. Cotet downed Rodgers, 6-1, 6-2, at the top spot, while Brighiu beat Francis, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2. Soster could get nothing going against Brink at the No. 3 spot, falling 6-0, 6-1.
Nichols defeated Buckingham, 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 4 position and Seider beat Beaussart, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5. The best singles match came at the No. 6 spot, where TCU's Casey Powers defeated Gies, 6-4, 7-5.
The Falcons continue MWC action on Friday, March 28 against UNLV.
