Falcons Fall to St. Mary's College, 6-1

The Air Force men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to St. Mary's College Tuesday in Moraga, Calif. The Falcons, whose match against the University of San Francisco on Monday was postponed due to weather, fell to 11-8 this season. SMC opened the match by winning all three doubles matches, including a dramatic, 8-7 victory a the No. 2 spot by Achim Christner and Yury Platanov over Falcon freshmen Brett Rodgers and Mike Youn. In singles play, Youn captured the only victory for Air Force, downing Platanov, 7-5, 6-3 at the No. 3 position. St. Mary's won four of the singles matches in straight sets, while the No. 6 match was stretched to three sets before SMC' Alp Ozpinar beat AFA freshman Austin Francis, 6-0, 6-7(6), (10-2). The Falcons play UC Davis on Thursday, March 29 at 2 p.m. in Davis, Calif. St. Mary's (CA) 6, Air Force 1 Singles Doubles
