Falcons Win Second Straight, 7-0, over Dayton

The Air Force men's tennis team won its second consecutive match Sunday, shutting out the University of Dayton, 7-0, at the Academy. With the victory, Air Force improved to 9-6 this season.

For the third straight match, Air Force captured the Nos. 1 and 3 doubles matches. Sophomore Brett Rodgers and freshman Taylor Soster improved to 12-8 overall and 9-6 at the No. 1 spot with an 8-3 triumph over James O'Connell and Dave Payton. Sophomore Mike Gies and freshman Johnny Buckingham won at No. 3, 8-4, over Brice Warnock and Mike Koscieski.

Rodgers completed his clean sweep of the weekend with a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles over O'Connell. Rodgers was a perfect 3-for-3 in singles and doubles for Air Force this weekend. Sophomore Austin Francis (No. 2), Soster (No. 3) and sophomore James Tomlin (No. 4) each won his singles match in straight sets.

Buckingham pulled out a thrilling, 4-6, 6-3, (11-9) victory over Warnock at the No. 5 spot, while fellow freshman Alex Beaussart completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Chris Riccadella at No. 6 singles.

The Falcons will host the University of Rhode Island on Tuesday, March 18 at 1 p.m.
