Falcons Drop Close One to Montana, 4-3

The Air Force men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to the University of Montana Friday at the Academy. With the loss, the Falcons had their two-match winning streak snapped and fell to 7-6 this season. Air Force jumped out to an early lead by winning two of the three doubles matches. Sophomore Brett Rodgers and freshman Taylor Soster captured the No. 1 match, 8-2, over Colin Dektar and Alexandre Gorj, while sophomore Mike Gies and freshman Johnny Buckingham won at No. 3 over Mikolaj Borkowski and David Cysneiros, 8-5. Montana;s No. 2 duo of Felipe Raw and Raydner Ramos downed AFA sophomores Austin Francis and James Tomlin, 8-2. Rodgers gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead with a convincing, 6-0, 6-2, victory over Dektar at the No. 1 singles spot, but Montana responded by winning the Nos. 2-4 matches to take 3-2 lead. Raw won at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-0 decision over Francis, while Borkowski downed Tomlin, 6-1, 6-3. Ramos rallied from a set down to defeat Soster at No. 4, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. Buckingham won the No. 5 match in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, over Gorj, then Cysneiros clinched the team match for Montana with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Gies at No. 6.
