Falcons Drop 5-2 Match to UMKC

The Air Force men's tennis team dropped a close, 5-2, match to UMKC Saturday at the Academy. With the match tied at 2-all, the final three singles matches came down to a third set, with the Kangaroos winning all three. With the loss, Air Force falls to 0-5 this season. UMKC took an early 1-0 lead with wins at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles. The Falcon duo of Brett Rodgers and Taylor Soster improved to 3-2 with an 8-6 victory at the No. 2 spot. Soster evened the match with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Gustavo Guerin at the No. 4 singles spot. After Rodgers lost, 7-5, 7-5, to Serge Ristivojevic at No. 3, Austin Francis made it 2-2 with a 6-3, 7-6 win at the top spot over Brett Berryman. UMKC's Patrick Smith rallied to win the No. 2 match over Cody Hall, 6-7, 6-4, 7-5 and Erwin Quintanilla clinched the match for the Kangaroos by defeating Johnny Buckingham, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 at the No. 6 spot.
