Capt. Rene Ramirez was born in El Paso, Texas to Abe and Loretta Ramirez. Rene lived in El Paso all of his life until he was recruited to play tennis by Coach Rich Gugat at the United States Air Force Academy. He played for Coach Gugat during his time at the Air Force Academy where he was a four year starter in both singles and doubles and was named the team's captain as a senior. Off the court, Rene was a member of several of the Academy's merit lists and graduated in 2001 with a B.S. in Legal Studies and a minor in Spanish.
After graduation, Ramirez was assigned to the Electronics Systems Center (ESC) at Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts. While assigned to ESC, Ramirez worked on the operations and sustainment of various command and control systems and participated in the source selections of two command and control systems. During his time in the greater Boston area, he furthered his professional education by completing his MBA and the Leadership for Change program at Boston College.
Upon the completion of his first assignment at Hanscom AFB, Ramirez was invited back to the Air Force Academy to work in the Athletic Department. He is very excited to be back at the Academy to give back to a school and a tennis program that have had such a significant positive impact on his life.
