Air Force places 29 on the Mountain West Scholar-Athlete team

The MW Scholar-Athlete Award is one of the highest academic honors bestowed by the Conference

2015-16 (Junior)

Posted a 7-10 overall singles record, including a 2-0 mark in duals and a 5-10 mark in tournament play … was 3-9 overall in doubles, all in tournament play … went 2-1 in doubles with Dillon Launius ... earned 2016 ITA academic honors and was named academic all-Mountain West … has a 3.95 grade point average.

 

2014-15 (Sophomore)

Posted a 14-21 overall singles record … was 9-10 in dual matches and 5-11 in tournament play … was 8-13 overall in doubles, including a 3-6 dual record and 6-7 tournament record ... played mostly No. 3 doubles … earned academic all-Mountain West honors and was a Mountain West Scholar-Athlete.

 

2013-14 (Freshman)

Posted a 2-0 singles and 1-0 doubles record … both singles matches were played at the No. 6 position and the doubles match at the No. 3 spot … named a Mountain West Scholar-Athlete.

 

Before Air Force

Did not play high school tennis … attended the John Newcombe Tennis Academy in New Braunfels ... ranked No. 34 in the state of Texas and 39th in the Gulf States region, according to tennisrecruiting.net … represented the Planet Texas team at the 2011 World TeamTennis Junior Nationals.

Parents are Rick and Sharon Carpenter … has three younger sisters ... nickname is “Nico” … majoring in aeronautical engineering … completed the Powered Flight program and soloed in a T-53 … also completed a summer research program at the Johnson Space Center researching FADs for SpaceXDragon Capsule … was also on the cadet leadership team during Basic Cadet Training … was on the leadership cadre during survival training in the summer of 2015  … also completed Operation Air Force at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb. … completed the Expeditionary Survival and Evasion Training (ESET) in the summer of 2014 … also completed the jump program … active in his squadron as an operations clerk and standardization and evaluation officer  … member of the Superintendent’s List for military, academic and athletic excellence last fall … was also a member of the Dean’s and Athletic List … hobbies include reading, hiking and playing piano ... would like to attend pilot training after his time at the Academy … favorite food is pizza ... favorite book is Murder on the Orient Express  … favorite movie is It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World ... person in history he would most like to meet is Jesus … greatest moment in sports was receiving the Ritchie-Manzini award ... member of cadet squadron 5.
