Falcon swim/dive teams head to Arizona

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will travel to Arizona for a pair of dual meets. The men’s team will swim against conference rival Grand Canyon University on Friday, Nov. 3, at 6 p.m. and again on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 10 a.m., in  Phoenix, Ariz.,  The women’s team will swim against Northern Arizona (Flagstaff, Ariz.), Friday, Nov. 3, at 5 p.m., and will then face Grand Canyon (Phoenix, Ariz.), Saturday, Nov. 4, 11 a.m.

The women’s team (5-4 overall) has several individuals ranked among the best in the Mountain West. Sophomore Lydia Knutson is sixth in the 50 free (23.70) while senior Jinan Andrews is seventh in the 100 free (51.97).

The Falcons hold three of the top six spots in the 1650 free as sophomore Jayden Glover is fourth (17:35.65), sophomore Kelsey Linzmeyer is fifth (17:46.13) and junior Elisabeth Brechbuhl is sixth (17:51.54). Glove also ranks ninth in the league in the 400 IM (4:34.22).

The 200 free relay team of  Andrews, Elise Hart, Winnie Chen and Knutson has the second fastest time in the Mountain West at 1:35.44.

The men’s team (4-2 overall this season) features several swimmers that rank among in the top five in the Western Athletic Conference.  Junior Steffen Mount leads the league in the 50 free (20.53) and is second in the 100 free (45.08).  Mount also ranks fifth in the 100 fly (49.71).



Senior Lars Knutson is fourth in the WAC in the 50 free (20.72 while senior Michael Hannigan is third in the WAC in the 100 free (45.34).

Sophomore Ben Brockman leads the WAC in the 200 free (1:38.67) and is second in the 500 free  (4:33.63).

The Falcons hold the top four spots in the league in the 1650 free. Senior Garrett Glaudini holds the top spot (16:03.31), while junior Collin Green is second (16:06.30), freshman Peter Lochmaier is third (16:26.06) and freshman Vincent Vivadelli  is fourth (16:37. 94). Green is second (9:35.19) in 1000 free while senior Glaudini is third (9:39.02).

Sophomore Cole McAnany is fourth  in the 100 back (50.63) while freshman Ben Settle is third in the 200 back (1:50.29). Sophomore Zach Nelson is second in the 200 breast stroke at 2:05.29.

The Falcons hold the top three spots in the 400 IM as sophomore Kyle Bundesmann is first (4:00.73), Lochmaier is second (4:00.79) and Glaudini is third (4:03.50). Bundesmann is also fifth in the 200 IM  (1:53.90). Lochmaier also ranks third in the 200 fly (1:51.15).

The 200 free relay team of Hannigan, McAnany, Knutson and Mount has the league’s fastest time at 1:22.53. The 400 free relay team, made up of the same swimmers, also leads the WAC with a 3:01.84. The 200 medley relay team of McAnany, Derek Brecht, Mount and Hannigan is second in the league at 1:30.88.
