U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – A school-record five members of the Air Force Academy men’s swimming and diving team earned College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America honors.
Nathanael Zillweger, a diver who graduated on June 2, earned first-team honors as he posted a GPA above 3.50 and also competed at the NCAA Championships. Rising senior swimmers Jordan Dahle, Andrew Faciszewski and Kristopher Tillery and rising junior swimmer Joey Gebhart were all named honorable mention. To earn honorable mention status, a student-athlete must have achieved at least a 3.50 GPA and an NCAA “B” time in their respective event.
Zillweger, from Phoenix, Ariz., was named the WAC Diver of the Year for the second straight season as he won both the 1- and 3-meter titles at the 2016 WAC Championships. He competed in the NCAA Championships in the 3-meter and on the platform and earned all-conference honors in all three.
Dahle, from Salt Lake City, Utah, earned all-WAC honors in the 200 free and will be swimming the 50 free and 100 free at the Olympic Trials later this week. Faciszewski, from Bluffton, S.C., won the WAC title in the 1650 free and will be swimming the 1500 meter free at the Olympic Trials later this week. Tillery, from Albuquerque, N.M., earned all-WAC honors in the 200 back stroke. Gebhart, from Boulder City, Nev., one of the team’s top backstrokers all season, earned all-conference honors as part of the 200 free relay team.
