Deacon Named First-Team Academic All-American

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Cody Deacon, a recent graduate of Air Force men's swimming & diving, was named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Men's At-Large Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Deacon was a first-team selection.
Deacon, a native of Portland, Ore., graduated with a 3.84 grade-point average. He earned a degree in aeronautical engineering with a minor in Russian.
Deacon, who was also the swim team captain for 2011-12, earned All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honors in the 100 yard breaststroke. The senior was also a USA Olympic Trials qualifier in the 100 meter breast. He ranks second all-time at the Academy in the 100 breast and fourth in the 200 breast. Deacon recently earned a pair of honors at the team's season-ending award dinner. He earned the Senior who Contributed Most to Air Force Swimming Award and the Team Overall Most Inspirational.
Deacon is slated to attend the University of Washington for a master's degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering. Upon completion of his master's degree at Washington, Deacon is slated to attend pilot training at Sheppard AFB as part of the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) program.
