Men's Swimming & Diving Announces 2011-12 Team Awards

    USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's swimming & diving announced its 2011-12 team award winners at the season-ending team award dinner. Senior Corydon Butler took home team MVP honors.

    Butler was named MVP after a standout senior season that saw him earn All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in three events. Butler was AFA's lone first-team all-conference recipient, earning the honor in the 500 yard freestyle, where he was the MPSF runner-up. Butler also earned second-team All-MPSF in the 200 free and the 1650 free. Butler leaves the Academy ranking in the school's top 10 list in four events.

    Senior Cody Deacon also picked up two honors, earning the Senior who Contributed Most to Air force Swimming Award and the Team Overall Most Inspirational. Deacon earned All-MPSF honors in the 100 breaststroke. The senior from Portland, Ore., also qualified for the USA Olympic Trials in the 100 meter breast.

    Cole Smith earned the Class of 2012 Most Inspirational. The senior from Charlotte, N.C., swam Air Force's top time in the 50 free (20.93) on the season and at the MPSF Championships. He was also part of AFA's top 200 and 400 free relay and 200 medley relay groups.

    Ryan Brigman earned the Class of 2013 Most Inspirational. The junior from Las Vegas, Nev., was a top five swimmer in all three distance freestyle events (500, 1000, 1650 free) for the Falcons.

    Angus MacDonald earned the Class of 2014 Most Inspirational. The sophomore from Woodbridge, Va., was Air Force's top swimmer in both backstroke events. MacDonald was also a part of the fastest 200 free, 200 medley and 400 medley relay groups.

    Ryan Dunne earned the Class of 2015 Most Inspirational. The Bristow, Va., native was a top five swimmer in the 100 and 200 free and 200 and 400 medley events. Dunne swam the 10th fastest 200 free time in school history.
