The Air Force Academy will be the host institution for the 2010 NCAA Zone E Diving Qualifying Meet, which will be held March 11-13 in Austin, Texas. The competition, which serves as a qualifying competition for the NCAA Championships, will take place for the second-straight year at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center, on the campus of the University of Texas.

Zone E covers 11 states in the West Region—Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. This year’s meet will feature more than 70 divers from 19 schools in the region.

Competition at the Zone E meet begins Thursday with the women’s 1-meter and men’s 3-meter springboard events. Friday’s action will include the men’s 1-meter and women’s 3-meter events, while the regional concludes Saturday with the platform diving events.

Seven men and six women from Zone E will receive bids to the NCAA Championships, which are being held in West Lafayette, Ind., March 18-20 (women) and in Columbus, Ohio, March 25-27 (men). NCAA Championship qualifiers from Zone E will be announced at the conclusion of Saturday's events.

Representing Air Force at this year’s diving regionals are seniors Kyle Van Valkenburg (Tucson, Ariz.) and David Arlington (Eagle River, Alaska). Van Valkenburg, who earned All-MWC honors in both the platform and 3-meter springboard events with career-best marks, will compete in all three diving events at this weekend’s qualifying meet. Meanwhile, Arlington is scheduled to compete on both springboard events.
