Deacon Qualifies For Olympic Trials at Columbus Grand Prix

    USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Senior Cody Deacon qualified for the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials with his performance in the 100 meter breaststroke at the Columbus Grand Prix Friday at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on the Ohio State University campus. Deacon was one of five Falcon men's and women's swimmers to compete in day one action.

    Deacon finished 20th overall in the 100 breast with a finals time of 1:04.52.

    Classmate Corydon Butler swam the 200 freestyle, finishing 30th with a time of 1:54.96.

    The Falcons had three swimmers from the women's team compete. Freshman Kim Davis led the way with a 24th place finish in the 100 breast with a prelim time of 1:14.12.

    A pair of Falcons swam the 100 butterfly. Junior Haley Holcombe placed 32nd with a time of 1:03.76 and sophomore Gabby Aranda placed 61st with a time of 1:06.45.
