Air Force Swimmers Meet Denver In Dual Action

    The Air Force men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to action this weekend, Jan. 12, when they travel to Denver for dual action. The meet is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. at El Pomar Natatorium.

    Scouting the Falcon Men...
    The Air Force men's swimming team (3-3) is coming off a 76-37 win over UC San Diego in an all-relay meet. The Falcons won six of seven relays in the meet.

    In the MWC, Justin Day ranks second in the 200 breaststroke, Bryan Avery ranks fourth in the 200 free and fifth in the 100 butterfly, Sean O'Keefe is third in the 1650 free and fifth in the 500 free, and Benjamin Gunn and Kai Yamashiro rank fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 200 back.

    Scouting the Falcon Women...
    The Air Force women's swimming team (2-6) competed last weekend at San Diego State, dropping a 167-63 contest to the Aztecs. Leading the Falcons was junior Jane Hwang, who captured first place in both the 200 free and 100 butterfly, notching a season-best mark of 58.81.

    Hwang currently ranks seventh in the MWC in the 100 free and eighth in the 200 IM.

    Scouting the Pioneer Men...
    The Denver men's swimming team (9-0), currently ranked third in the collegeswimming.com Mid-Major poll, was last in action in a tri-meet versus Northwestern and Florida Atlantic. The Pioneers defeated both the 18th-ranked Wildcats and the Owls. Jeff Giddens won the 50 free, Marcus Christiansen won the 200 breaststroke and Blake Worsley captured the 500 free, while the Pioneers also registered six second-place finishes.

    Scouting the Pioneer Women...
    The Denver women's swimming team (5-6), ranked fourth in the collegeswimming.com Mid-Major poll, fell to Northwestern and Florida Atlantic in their last meet. Securing victories for the Pioneers against the Wildcats and Owls were Kelsey Totura in the 200 backstroke and Grace Kittle in the 200 breaststroke.

    The Air Force men's and women's swimming and diving teams are back on the road next weekend, Jan. 19, competing against UNLV in a Mountain West Conference meet.
