Falcon Swimmers Visit UC San Diego, San Diego State in Dual Action

    The Air Force men's and women's swimming and diving teams are back in action this week, Jan. 4. The men will compete against UC San Diego, while the women meet up with conference foe San Diego State.

    Scouting the Falcon Men...
    The Air Force men's swimming team (2-3) last competed at the UCI/Nike Cup, Nov. 16-18, finishing third overall.

    Registering top five finishes for Air Force at the Nike Cup were Sean O'Keefe (second, 1650 free), Tom Hansen (fifth, 1650 free) and Kai Yamashiro (fifth, 100 back).

    In the MWC, Justin Day ranks second in the 200 breaststroke, Bryan Avery ranks fourth in the 200 free and fifth in the 100 butterfly, O'Keefe is third in the 1650 free and fourth in the 500 free, and Benjamin Gunn and Yamashiro rank fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 200 back.

    Scouting the Falcon Women...
    The Air Force women's swimming and diving team (2-5, 0-3) last competed in a dual meet versus Northern Colorado Dec. 7, dropping a 209-82 contest.

    Leading the Falcons against the Bears was junior Jane Hwang, who captured first place in both the 200 free and 200 IM.

    Hwang currently ranks seventh in the MWC in the 100 free and eighth in the 200 IM.

    Scouting the Tritons...
    The UC San Diego men's swimming team (0-3) was last in action at the Nike Cup, where it finished in eighth place. Leading the Tritons at the Nike Cup was the 400 relay team of Dan Perdew, J.P. Oliver, Brandon Maryatt and Todd Langland, finishing second in the event.

    Scouting the Aztecs...
    The San Diego State women's swimming and diving team (2-2, 0-2) is coming off a 161-81 loss to Wyoming.

     

     

    Against the Cowgirls, Ana Dowell led the Aztecs, winning the 100 butterfly, while three others captured second-place finishes.

    Up Next...
    The Air Force men's and women's swimming and diving teams have another dual meet next weekend, Jan. 12, when they travel to Denver for a 1:00 p.m. meeting.
