SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Air Force men’s and women’s swimming teams wrapped up their winter training with a multi-team meet, Friday, Dec. 22, in San Diego, Calif. The men’s team fell to Cal Poly (175-119) while the women fell to San Diego State (199-92) and Cal Poly (215-72).

On the men’s side, junior Steffen Mount won three events, the 50 free (20.97), the 100 free (46.00) and the 100 fly (50.70).  Sophomore Cole McAnany won two events, the 100 back (51.76) and 200 back (1:55.11). Freshman Peter Lochmaier won the 200 fly (1:50.93).

Several Falcons earned runner-up finishes as Michael Hannigan was second in the 100 free (46.42) and the 200 free (1:42.07), Lars Knutson in 50 free (21.03), Ben Settle in the 200 back (1:55.37), Joey Gebhart in 100 back (53.85), Zach Nelson in 200 breast (2:05.19) and Lochmaier in 500 free (4:39.61).

On the women’s side, senior Jinan Andrews placed second in three events, the 50 free (24.11), the 100 free (51.63) and the 200 free (1:54.48). A pair of freshmen placed as well as Kylie Stronko was second in 200 back (2:06.93) and Jessica Wierzbicki was third in 100 fly (58.69).

Both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are back in action at home on Jan. 12-13 at the Cadet Natatorium.
