Air Force Divers Complete Day Two at Wildcat Invitational

TUCSON, Ariz. - Competing on the men's 3-meter springboard and the women's 1-meter springboard, the Air Force diving team wrapped up day two of action at the Wildcat Diving Invitational, hosted by Arizona.

For the second-straight day, senior David Arlington (Eagle River, Alaska) was the Falcons' top performer, advancing to the consolation finals in the 3-meter dive with a preliminary score of 264.10. Arlington then posted a mark of 291.45 to finish fifth in the consolation finals and 13th overall.

Freshman Beau Riebe (Mercer Island, Wash.) had the next best score for Air Force on the 3-meter board with a mark of 262.55, finishing 18th overall, while Kyle Van Valkenburg (Sr., Tucson, Ariz.) placed 19th overall with a preliminary mark of 259.55.

Also competing for the Air Force men on Saturday were Nathaniel Gilbert (Jr., River Falls, Wis.), who posted a score of 165.00 in the prelims, and Cheyne Clark (So., Bainbridge Island, Wash.), who finished with a mark of 163.15.

The lone diver for the Air Force women, senior Chelsea Tompkins (Grand Junction, Colo.), finished 29th overall on the 1-meter springboard. That performance came on the heels of a 36th-place showing in the women's 3-meter competition on Friday.

The Wildcat Diving Invitational concludes tomorrow with the men's and women's platform events, which are slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. (PT).
