LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Air Force men's swim team completed competition Saturday by taking fifth place at the Arena Invitational at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool. Freshman Max Evans-Nolan highlighed the day for the Falcons with an NCAA B-Cut time in the 1650 free.

Evans-Nolan placed fourth in the 1650 free with a time of 15:28.69, which is the fourth-fastest time in school history. His 1000 yard split time of 9:17.78 is also the fourth-fastest 1000 free time in school history.

The Falcons swam well in the 1650 free as a group, with Corydon Butler placing sixth with a time of 15:45.66. Ryan Brigman followed in 13th and Alex Strom in 14th.

In the 200 back, Angus MacDonald made the championship finals, placing eighth. MacDonald had a season-best time of 1:49.04 in the prelims. Sam Sloan followed in 25th and Matt Milliking placed 26th.

Micah Newmann led the Falcons in the 100 free, taking 11th with a prelim time of 45.35. Cole Smith followed in 33rd, Ryan Dunne 38th, Tim Martinelli 40th, Jonathan Eng 46th and Jon Jones 59th.

Cody Deacon led AFA in the 200 breast, taking 15th. Sam Wieser placed 19th and had a finals time of 2:05.46. Kaleb Jenkins followed in 36th.

Paul Leonhardt reached the 200 fly championship finals and placed eighth for the Falcons. His prelim time of 1:50.53 is a season-best. Mark Hansen followed in 16th, Kyle Casias 24th, Nate Roesler 25th, Anthony Chiaro 32nd and Sam Sloan 37th.

The Falcons closed out the meet with a sixth place finish in the 400 free relay. The group of Smith, Leonhardt, Butler and Newmann swam a season-best time of 3:02.49.

The Falcons finished fifth in the three-day meet with 546 points. Stanford won the meet with 2142 points.
