LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Air Force men's swim team completed day two action at the Arena Invitational, hosted by the UC San Diego at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool on Friday. The Falcons moved up two spots to sixth place as two swims cracked the AFA top 10 lists.
Air Force had solid performances by both relay groups to lead the charge. The Falcons placed third in the 200 medley and second in the 800 free relays. The 200 medley group of Angus MacDonald, Michael Barnosky, Ryan Dunne and George Frank swam a season-best time of 1:30.31. The 800 free group of Dunne, Frank, Tim Martinelli and Jon Jones swam a season-best time of 6:37.82.
The Falcons' best individual event was the 100 backstroke, where Matt Millikin and MacDonald went 5th and 6th. Millikin swam a finals time of 49.56 and MacDonald swam a prelim time of 49.65, which is the fifth-fastest time in school history.
Dunne led the way for the Falcons in the 100 fly, placing 10th with a time of 48.91, which is the fifth-fastest mark in AFA history. Barnosky led AFA in the 100 breast, placing 13th with a time of 56.59, which was just shy of an academy top 10 mark.
Frank was Air Force's top swimmer in the 200 free, placing 11th with a prelim time of 1:39.63. Robert Graves was the Falcons' top swimmer in the 400 medley, placing 19th with a finals time of 4:06.10.
