Air Force Men's Swimming Opens Competition at the Arena Invite

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Air Force men's swim team opened day one competition in eighth place at the Arena Invitational, hosted by the UC San Diego at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool on Thursday.
Freshman Robert Graves cracked the AFA top 10 mark in the 500 free to highlight day one action. Graves finished 17th in the 500 free with a time of 4:29.80, which is the eighth-fastest in school history.
Sophomore Ryan Dunne was Air Force's top individual finisher, placing 14th in the 200 IM with a prelim time of 1:51.28. Freshman George Frank was AFA's top swimmer in the 50 free, placing 15th and just missing out on a top 10 swim with a time of 20.78.
The Falcons had a pair of fifth-place finishes in the relay events. The 200 free group of Dunne, Frank, Angus MacDonald and Tim Martinelli swam a season-best time of 1:22.02. The 400 medley group of MacDonald Michael Barnosky, Dunne and Martinelli swam a season-best time of 3:19.97.
Day two of the three-day event resumes Saturday.
