    GOLDEN, Colo. - Air Force men's and women's swimming & diving teams completed a sweep against the Colorado School of Mines and Mesa State Friday afternoon at the CSM Natatorium. The men's team improves to 6-1 on the season and the women's team moved to 2-3.

    The women's team defeated CSM 195-47 and Mesa State 178-53. The men's team defeated CSM 139-93 and Mesa State 131-106.

    The Falcon women dominated the meet, taking first in 11 of 13 events. The men's team took first in eight events.

    Freshman Hannah Cesare led the way with a pair of individual wins and was a part of both winning relay groups. Cesare won both sprint free events, taking first in the 50 yard free (24.85) and 100 free (54.19). Cesare, along with Samantha Laughlin, Katrina Castellanos and Haley Holcombe combined to win the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:04.59. The group of Erin Bleyl, Laughlin, Cesare and Alivia Berg capped the meet by winning the 200 free relay with a time of 1:40.10.

    Freshman diver Moranda Hern also had a solid day, winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard diving events. Hern won the 1-meter with 210:25 points and the 3-meter with 197.75 points.

    Freshman Ashley Crowe won the 1000 free with a time of 11:19.69. The Falcons dominated the 200 individual medley event, taking the top four spots, led by freshman Gabby Aranda, who clocked in at 2:12.90.

    Air Force also the did well in the butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke events. Junior Katharine Ernst won the 200 fly with a time of 2:14.90. Bleyl won the 200 back with a time of 2:10.58 and Castellanos won the 200 breast with a time of 2:33.44.

    The Falcon men won four of the five freestyle events. Sophomore Ryan Brigman won both the 500 and 1000 free events, clocking in with times of 4:54.15 in the 500 free and 10:05.40 in the 1000 free. Freshman Micah Newmann won the 100 free (47.79) and sophomore Tim Martinelli led a 1-2-3 finish by the Falcons in the 200 free with a time of 1:44.70.

    A pair of freshmen won the 200 fly and 200 back events for AFA. Paul Leonhardt too the 200 fly with a time of 1:56.11 and Angus MacDonald won the 200 back with a time of 1:55.93.

    The Falcons won both relay events to start and end the meet. The all-freshmen group of MacDonald, Billy Ross, Leonhardt and Newmann clocked a time of 3:31.89 to win the 400 medley relay. MacDonald, Martinelli, Anthony Chiaro and Weston Walker combined to take the 200 free relay with a time of 1:26.29.

    The men's team returns to action Nov. 5 at Arizona State. The women's team returns to action Nov. 5 at TCU. The diving team heads to Los Angeles to take part in the USC Diving Invitational, Nov. 5-6.
