Falcon Men's Swimming Dominates Five-Team Meet At Denver

DENVER - The Air Force Academy men's swimming and diving teams went 4-0 in a five-team dual meet competition Friday night at El Pomar Natatorium. The Falcons defeated Denver, Colorado School of Mines, Metro State College of Denver and Colorado College.
The women's team also competed but did not participate in team scoring.
The Falcon men took first place outright in 9-of-13 events. Senior Chris Knaute led the way, winning the 100, 500 and 1000 yard freestyle events.
AFA opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay. Paul Parmenter, Justin Day, Matt Sievers and Ryan Moss combined to win with a time of 1:34.54. The Falcons then went first and second in the 1000 free, with Knaute taking first with a time of 9:26.93 and Sean O'Keefe taking second with a time of 10:04.38.
The Falcons took first and second in the 200 free with Bryan Avery winning with a time of 1:43.04 and T.J. Cowling placing second with a time of 1:44.90. The Falcons then went 1-2 in the 200 individual medley with Parmenter winning with a time of 1:53.06 and Justin Lapin taking second with a time of 1:56.50.
Air Force then went 1-2 in both the 100 butterfly and 100 free. Sievers won the 100 fly with a time of 51.23 and Nick Burton took second with a time of 51.63. Knaute won the 100 free with a time of 46.03 and Cowling followed up with a time of 46.96.
Knaute then won the 500 free with a time of 4:37.81. Andrew Bergman won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 58.45 and Justin Day took second with a time of 58.47. The Falcons concluded the meet by winning the 200 free relay. The group of Uzelac, Burton, Moss and Cowling won with a time of 1:24.24.
Although not scoring points, the Falcon women took first in four events. Lauren White won the 1000 free with a time of 10:34.16. Katelyn Hunter took first in the 100 fly with a time of 1:02.21 and White took second with a time of 1:02.86.
The Falcons return to action Nov. 3, at the Big West Shootout in Irvine, Calif.
