Air Force Swimming & Diving Sweeps Three-Way Meet Saturday

    USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force swimming & diving combined to go 4-0 in head-to-head competition Saturday afternoon at the Cadet Natatorium. The Falcons earned wins over the Colorado College and Simon Fraser (Canada). The Falcon men's and women's teams combined to go 11-0 over the weekend.

    The Falcon women improved to 7-0 on the season, defeating Colorado College 178-49 and Simon Fraser 145-88. The men improved to 6-1, defeating Colorado College 155-48 and Simon Fraser 144-81.

    Air Force combined to take first place overall in 21 of 26 events.

    The Falcon men earned 11 first place finishes. Air Force won both relay and diving events, in addition to the 50, 200, 500 and 1000 free events and the 200 medley, 200 fly and 200 breast events.

    Sophomore Dominic Vallejo dominated the diving events, winning the 1-meter with 358.65 points and the 3-meter with 324.90 points. Sophomore George Frank won the 50 free with a time of 21.23. Sophomore Robert Graves won the 200 free with a time of 1:44.01 and the 500 free with a time of 4:54.12. Freshman Andrew Facizewski won the 1000 free with a time of 9:55.56.

    Junior Ryan Dunne won the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.64. Sophomore Sean Ledford won the 200 fly with a time of 1:55.15. Sophomore Michael Barnosky won the 200 breast with a time of 2:08.84.

    In the relay events, Kristopher Tillery, Barnosky, Dunne and Jordan Dahle swam a winning time of 3:26.76 in the 400 medley relay. The group of Dunne, Dahle, Jackson Locke and Micah Newmann won the 200 free relay with a time of 1:25.22.

    The Falcon women won 10 events. The women won the 100, 200, 500 and 1000 free events, along with the 200 medley, 200 back, 200 breast, both diving events and the 200 free relay.

    Junior Kim Davis and freshman Genevieve Miller won two individual events each to lead the way. Davis won the 100 free (52.74) and 200 breast (2:24.45) and Miller won the 200 free (1:55.54) and 1000 free (10:40.96).

    Sophomore Sara Menke won the 500 free with a time of 5:19.46. Sophomore Maddy Huttner won the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.18. Senior Sam Laughlin won the 200 back with a time of 2:05.94. In the diving events, sophomore Summer Getty won the 1-meter with 257.18 points and junior Lainie Long won the 3-meter with 273.15 points. In the 200 free relay, the group of Hannah Cesare, Huttner, Laughlin and Gabby Aranda swam a winning time of 1:38.53.

    The Falcons return to action Friday, Oct. 25, as both teams host Notre Dame.
