Air Force Swimming Sweeps Five-Way Meet Friday

    USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force swimming combined to go 7-0 in head-to-head competition Friday night at the Cadet Natatorium. The Falcons earned wins over the Colorado School of Mines, Colorado Mesa University, Nebraska-Omaha (women only) and Simon Fraser (Canada).

    The Falcon women, who improved to 5-0 on the season, defeated CSM 175-64, CMU 175-59, UNO 159-79 and Simon Fraser 140-92. The men, who are now 4-1, defeated CSM 155-78, CMU 151-88 and Simon Fraser 142.50-89.50.

    Air Force combined to take first place overall in 11 of 26 events.

    The Falcon women earned six first place finishes. The Falcons earned wins in the 200, 500 and 1000 free events in addition to the 100 back, 400 medley and 400 free relay.

    Senior Hannah Cesare won the 200 free with a time of 1:56.51. Freshman Genevieve Miller won the 500 free with a time of 5:09.82. Junior Clara Heffernan won the 1000 free with a time of 10:51.65. Senior Samantha Laughlin won the 100 back with a time of 57.19. Junior Kim Davis won the 400 IM with a time of 4:32.82. The group of Miller, Maddy Huttner, Erin Bleyl and Davis combined to win the 400 free relay with a time of 3:32.78.

    The Falcon men earned five first place finishes. The Falcons earned wins in the 500 and 1000 free events in addition to the 100 fly and 400 IM and 200 medley relay.

    Sophomore Kevin Jackson won the 500 free with a time of 4:51.25. Freshman Sam Stronko won the 1000 free with a time of 10:05.47. Senior Micah Newmann won the 100 back with a time of 51.67. Freshman Andrew Faciszewski won the 400 IM with a time of 4:14.11. The group of Devon Davis, Michael Barnosky, Ryan Dunne and George Frank won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:32.41.

    The Falcons return to action tomorrow, hosting Colorado College and Simon Fraser.
