Falcon Men's Swimming Completes Day Two At Intermountain Shootout

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Air Force men's swimming & diving team completed day two action at the Intermountain Shootout at El Pomar Natatorium on the campus of Colorado Mesa University Saturday afternoon. The Falcons took first place in six of 12 events on the day.

The Falcons went 1-1 in head-to-head competition. Air Force defeated host Colorado Mesa 263-91 and fell to Utah 190-164.

Senior Cody Deacon led the way with a pair of wins in the breaststroke events. Deacon won the 50 yard breast with a time of 26.70 and the 200 breast with a time of 2:09.51.

The Falcons also got wins in the 200 fly, 100 back, 500 free and the 800 free relay. Sophomore Paul Leonhardt won the 200 fly with a time of 1:56.52. Sophomore Angus MacDonald won the 100 back with a time of 52.04 and senior Corydon Butler won the 500 free with a time of 4:40.31. The 800 free group consisted of Ryan Dunne, Jon Jones, Leonhardt and Butler (7:01.98).

Air Force swam well in the 500 free, taking the top three spots. Ryan Brigman took second (4:49.98) and Max Evans-Nolan took third (4:52.46).

The Falcons also had second-place swims in the 200 IM and 200 back. Leonhardt placed second in the 200 IM with a time of 1:58.77 and MacDonald took second in the 200 back with a time of 1:56.95.

Air Force's top diver was sophomore Alex Pecci. Peccie placed fifth in the 3m springboard diving with 234.45 points. Junior Brent White followed in sixth (229.95) and freshman Greg Copeland was seventh (158.60).

Air Force returns to action Oct. 28 hosting a four-way meet. The Falcons will debut their newly refurbished Cadet Natatorium that day.
