Day Two Wraps Up at NCAA Zone E Diving Regionals

Oklahoma City, Okla. - UCLA's Marisa Samaniego captured the women's 3-meter title, while Hawaii's Magnus Frick defended his title in the men's 1-meter dive Friday on the second day of competition at the 2008 NCAA Zone E Diving Regionals, being held at the Oklahoma City Community College Aquatic Center. Samaniego finished first at 3-meters with a score of 632.15. Stanford's Margaret Hostage, who won the women's 1-meter title on Thursday, placed second with a score of 602.45, while Hawaii's Emma Friesen took third place with a mark of 599.20. Meanwhile, Frick, the NCAA runner-up at 1-meter in 2007, registered a mark of 726.00 to place first. Richard Helvie of Cal placed second with a score of 708.00, while Arizona's Ben Grado took third place with a score of 667.80. Air Force sophomore Kyle Van Valkenburg (Tucson, Ariz.) finished 16th in the men's 1-meter dive with a score of 516.75. The 2008 NCAA Zone E Diving Regionals conclude Saturday with both the men's and women's platform diving events.
