Day One Concludes at NCAA Zone E Diving Regionals

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Michele Bendetti of Arizona State won the men's 3-meter dive, while Stanford's Margaret Hostage captured the women's 3-meter dive on the opening day of the 2008 NCAA Zone E Diving Regionals, being held at the Oklahoma City Community College Aquatic Center. Benedetti, who finished third at 3-meters in 2007, notched a score of 733.55 to finish first. Stanford's Nathan Kim took second with a mark of 691.60, while Mats Wiktorsson of Hawaii placed third with a score of 689.15. Hostage took the women's 1-meter title with a score of 577.05. Nevada's Candice Minnette finished second with a score of 529.90, while BYU's Tawni Jones placed third with a mark of 508.10 Air Force sophomore Kyle Van Valkenburg (Tucson, Ariz.) finished 20th in the men's 3-meter with a score of 482.30. Action continues Friday, starting with the women's 3-meter dive, followed by the men's 1-meter diving event.
