Competition Ends At 2011 NCAA Zone E Diving Regionals

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - USC swept the platform diving titles as Harrison Jones won the men's platform diving and Victoria Ishimatsu won the women's platform dive for the second-consecutive year, highlighting day three of the 2011 NCAA Zone E Diving Regionals, being held at the Minnesota Aquatics Center, on the campus of the University of Minnesota. Eight men and six women qualified for the NCAA's.
Harrison won the men's platform with 863.15 points. Riley McCormick, who won the men's 1-meter and 3-meter dives, was runner-up with 792.25 points. Stanford's Brent Eichenseer placed third with 745.90 points.
On the women's side, Ishimatsu completed the sweep of all three diving events, with her first place in the platform with 542.85 points. Arizona State's Elina Eggers placed second with a score of 540.70 and Stanford's Margaret Hostage placed third with 539.10 points.
At the conclusion of the meet, the NCAA qualifiers from Zone E were named. Earning spots for the men were Jones, McCormick Eichenseer, Brandon Watson (BYU), Steven Starks (USC), Cameron Bradshaw (ASU), Constatin Blaha (ASU) and Mark Murdock (Wyoming). On the women's side, Ishimatsu, Eggers and Hostage were all named qualifiers, along with Stephanie Phipps (Stanford), Samantha Pickens (Arizona) and Emma Friesen (Hawaii).
