USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Day two competition at the 2012 NCAA Zone E Diving Qualifer was completed Friday afternoon at the Cadet Natatorium. Stanford's Kristian Ipsen won the men's 1-meter title. Arizona's Samantha Pickens won the women's 3m competition.
Ipsen completed the 1-2 sweep in the springboard events, winning the 1m with 823.10 points. He won the 3m competition yesterday. Benjamin Grado of Arizona placed second with 779.20 points. Cameron Bradshaw of Arizon State placed third with 746.60 points.
After narrowly being edged yesterday by USC's Victori Ishimatsu for the top spot in the 1m diving, Pickens returned the favor by edging Ishimatsu out in the 3m. Pickens scored 668.70 points to Ishimatsu's 665.25 points to win by 3.45 points. Kristen Meier of San Diego State, the Mountain West Conference 3m Champion, placed third with 640.80 points.
The platform diving competion will culminate the three-day competion tomorrow. The women's competition begins at 11 a.m. (MST) and the men's competition begins at 3:30 p.m.
