The diving portion of the 2013 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Swimming & Diving Championships began Thursday at the Cadet Natatorium. Lauren Hall of Hawai'i won the women's 1-meter diving and Nicholas Suder of BYU won the men's 3-meter diving in day one action.
Hall took first in the women's 1-meter with 299.30 points in the finals. Raleigh Williams of BYU took second with 286.65 points and Dayna Christensen of BYU was third with 281.15 points.
Suder took first in the men's 3-meter with 356.95 points in the finals. Luke Hayes of Hawai'i took second with 349.75 points and Derek Campbell of Wyoming was third with 334.15 points.
Air Force, which only competes on the men's side in the MPSF, had three divers make the consolation finals. Senior Brent White led the way with a third place finish in the consolation group with 284.10 points. Freshman Dominic Vallejo was fifth with 277.85 points and freshman Nathaniel Zillweger was eighth with 209.75 points. Junior Alex Pecci also placed 17th in the prelims with 227.85 points.
Day two of the three-day diving action resumes tomorrow with the men's 1-meter and women's 3-meter. Saturday action will feature the platform diving.
