Air Force Men's Swimming & Diving Completes Day Three at MPSF Championships

    Day Three Results Get Acrobat Reader

    LOS ANGELES - The Air Force men's swimming & diving team completed day three action at the 2012 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Swimming & Diving Championships Friday at Los Angeles College. The Falcons moved up two spots to sixth place with 161 points after several strong swims.

    The Falcons had four swims that cracked the Academy Top 10 in addition four top 10 finishes in the meet.

    Air Force's best event was the 200 free, where three swimmers cracked the school's top 10 list. Senior Corydon Butler led the way by finishing fifth. His prelim time of 1:38.41 was the fifth-fastest in school history. Junior Tim Martinelli finished in ninth with a finals time of 1:39.13, which is the ninth-fastest time in school history. Freshman Ryan Dunne placed 13th with a prelim time of 1:39.16 which is the 10th fastest time at the Academy.

    Senior Cody Deacon was Air Force's top overall finisher, placing fourth in the 100 breast. Deacon swam a finals time of 55.41.

    Air Force also had strong swims in the 100 back. Sophomore Angus MacDonald placed 11th with a prelim time of 49.98, which is the sixth-fastest time in school history. Junior Matt Millikin placed 13th with a prelim time of 50.29.

    Junior Kaleb Jenkins was Air Force's top swimmer in the 100 fly, placing 14th with a prelim time of 49.54.

    Sophomore Alex Pecci placed 12th in the 3m diving with 274.00 points. Junior Brent White placed 13th with 271.35 points.

    The Falcons had a pair of 17th place finishers in the 400 IM. Junior Mark Hansen and freshman Sam Sloan both swam a finals time of 4:01.25.

    Air Force closed out the say with a ninth place finish in the 200 free relay. MacDonald, Butler, Deacon and Cole Smith swam a season-best time of 1:22.87.

    The four-day championships concludes tomorrow.
