Air Force Swimming & Diving Competes Against Denver and Northern Colorado

    USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force men's swimming & diving team defeated Denver, 130-113, in a dual meet Saturday afternoon at the Cadet Natatorium. The Falcons women's team did not fare as well, falling to Northern Colorado, 142-101, and to Denver, 160-80, in a three-way meet.

    The Denver women also defeated UNC, 135.50-107.50.

    The Falcon men won seven of 13 events with all five it their individual wins coming from seniors. Nick Burton led the way with wins in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events. Classmates Chris Knaute (200 free), Justin Lapin (400 individual medley) and Paul Parmenter (100 butterfly) also won for the Falcons.

    Air Force was also dominant in the relay events, taking the top spot in the 200 medley and 200 free relays. Burton, Chris Morin, Justin Day and Nick Uzelac combined to win the 200 medley with a time of 1:34.34. Ryan Moss, Knaute, Uzelac and T.J. Cowling combined to win the 200 free relay with a time of 1:24.30.

    On the women's side, senior Blair Leake got the lone Falcon win, taking the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.02. Air Force got second place finishes from Lauren Bursey in the one and three-meter dives, Jane Hwang in the 50 free and Lauren White in the 500 free.

    The Falcons return to action next weekend at BYU and Utah.
