USAF ACADEMY, Colo.- The Air Force swimming & diving teams swept the competition for the second-consecutive day, winning a four-way meet with North Dakota, Northern Colorado and Seattle U Saturday afternoon at the Cadet Natatorium. The Falcon women improved to 14-3 on the season, while the men are now 11-6.
The Falcon women defeated North Dakota 131-90, Northern Colorado 123-99 and Seattle U 147-73. The men defeated North Dakota 116-100 and Seattle U 137-79.
The women's team won six events on the day. Junior Kim Davisled the way with three total wins. Davis took first in the 100 yard freestyle (53.83) and 200 free (1:55.34) and anchored the winning 200 medley relay.
Sophomore Sara Menke won the 1000 free (10:53.80), junior Lainie Long the platform diving (215.25 points) and freshman Genevieve Miller the 500 free (5:12.21). The group of senior Samantha Laughlin, freshman Kira Schlosberg, senior Gabbrielle Arandaand Davis won the 200 medley relay (1:47.40).
After opening the meet with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay, the Falcon men won the next nine events. Junior Ryan Dunneled the way with wins in the 50 free (20.80) and 100 fly (49.76).
The Falcons also got wins form sophomore Kevin Jackson in the 1000 free (9:50.82), senior Paul Leonhardt in the 200 IM (1:54.93), sophomore Dominic Vallejo in the platform (298.75), sophomore George Frank in the 100 free (46.74), senior Angus MacDonald in the 100 back (51.65) and freshman Andrew Facizewskiin the 500 free (4:45.31).
It was the final home meet for seven women and five men swimmers and divers. The women's class of 2014 features Gabbrielle Aranda, Erin Bleyl, Hannah Cesare, Elizabeth Keenan, Rachel Kennedy, Michelle Kuyper and Sam Laughlin. The men's class of 2014 features Peter Cialkowski, Paul Leonhardt, Angus MacDonald, Micah Newmann and Alex Pecci.
