Men's Swimming Downs Denver, Falls To TCU In Three-Way Meet

    Denver, Colo. -- The Air Force men's swim team split its head-to-head matches in a three-way meet against Denver and TCU in El Pomar Natatorium on the DU campus. The Falcons downed the Pioneers 159-82, while falling to the Horned Frogs 131.5-111.5.

    AFA is now 4-1 on the season after the split.

    Senior Eric Pounds and freshman Chris Knaute led the way for the Falcons, with both taking first overall in two individual events. Pounds won the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 1:55.80 and also took first in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:53.09. Knaute was the first individual Air Force swimmer to win an event, taking first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:36.20, and also went on to win the 500 free with a blazing time of 4:40.32.

    Senior Paul Brehm was the other Falcon who finished first in an individual event, taking top honors in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:50.62.

    Air Force also took first in the 400 medley relay, consisting of Brehm, Pounds, Nick Burton and Casey Bowen, clocking in with a time of 3:27.39.

    The Falcons return to action Saturday, Jan. 17, opening Mountain West Conference action in Las Vegas, Nev., against UNLV.
