Falcon Men Defeat UC San Diego in Neutral-Site Dual

    SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Air Force men's swim team defeated UC San Diego 166-127 in a dual meet this Monday, Dec. 30, at the Aztec Aquaplex on the San Diego State campus.

    The Falcons (7-5) took first place in 11 of 14 events. Junior Ryan Dunne and sophomore Kevin Jackson led the way for the Falcons.

    Dunne won the 100 yard freestyle (45.71) and the 200 free (1:41.80) in addition to anchoring both winning relays. Jackson won the 500 free (4:41.40) and 1000 free (9:36.12).

    Air Force also had individual wins by senior Angus MacDonald, sophomore Sean Ledford, freshman Kristopher Tillery and senior Paul Leonhardt. MacDonald won the 100 backstroke (51.65), Ledford the 200 butterfly (1:54.16), Tillery the 200 back (1:54.72) and Leonhardt the 100 fly (50.96).

    The Falcons won both relay events. The group of MacDonald, sophomore Michael Barnosky, sophomore Kevin Mitchell and Dunne won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:32.17. The group of sophomore George Frank, Leonhardt, freshman Jordan Dahle and Dunne won the 400 free relay with a time of 3:06.71.

    The women's team also competed in the meet, falling to host San Diego State and UCSD.

    The Falcons return to action Saturday, Jan. 4, taking on UC Santa Barbara in a neutral-site dual at East Los Angeles College in Los Angeles.
