Colorado Springs, Colo. -- The Air Force men's soccer team is one of 48 teams selected to play in the 2017 NCAA men's soccer tournament, announced by the NCAA selection committee this morning. Air Force, with an overall record of 14-2-3 will take on Virginia Tech (9-9-0), Thurs., Nov. 16. The Falcons and Hokies are slated to kickoff at 6:00 p.m. ET, at Thompson Field.
In his 11th season at the helm of the men's soccer team, head coach Doug Hill continues to guide the team to new heights, producing his most successful regular-season to date, including a program-best 11-1 record at home. The Falcons will take on Tech with a program-high eight All-WAC selections, led by Tucker Bone in his second-straight first team selection, alongside other first-teamers, Oscar Chacon and John Wendt.
The 2017 WAC Coach of the Year led Air Force to its first-ever WAC men's soccer title this year. This year's tournament bid marks the first time competing in the national tournament since 2012. The Falcons' 10 shutouts are a program-best since coach Hill took the helm in the 2007 season. Last year, Hill's Falcons were only one win shy (14) of the program record for single-season wins (15).
