Five Falcons Earn All-MPSF Honors
Nov. 10, 2010
Five players from the Air Force Academy men's soccer team were named to the 2010 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation all-conference teams, announced Wednesday by the conference. Sophomore midfielder Kevin Durr was named to the first team, junior defender Eric Wilson and sophomore forward Zane Dydasco were second-team selections and senior defender John Tilton and sophomore goalie Matt Underwood earned honorable mention. It is the second all-conference honor for Wilson and the first for the other four players.
Durr, from Garmisch, Germany, led the team in scoring during the regular season with 10 points. He scored four goals, all game-winners, and dished out two assists. His four game-winning goals tied for the conference lead during the regular season and he finished second in the MPSF in shots per game at 3.24. He also leads the team with 55 shots attempted and 20 shots on goal.
Wilson, a team captain from Monument, Colo., led a defensive corps in 2010 that allowed just 1.72 goals per game and posted three shutouts. He has started all but two games in his career and led the team by playing 1,613 of a possible 1,644 minutes this season. Wilson was an honorable mention pick two years ago as a freshman.
Dydasco, from Honolulu, Hawaii, started all 18 games this year and is tied for second on the team in scoring with nine points. He scored two goals, including one on a penalty kick, and added a team-high five assists. He tied for fourth in the MPSF in assists this year and is second on the team behind Durr with 41 shots taken.
Tilton, from Arlington, Wash., has played in 16 games this season and scored the second goal of his career, the game-winner, in a 2-0 victory over San Jose State on Oct. 22. Tilton has been named to the MPSF all-academic team the last two seasons.
Underwood, from Colleyville, Texas, started 16 of the Falcons' 18 games in his first season with the varsity program. He posted two solo shutouts and shared in another. He finished the regular season fifth in the league with 63 saves and had a 1.55 goals-against average.
Air Force finished the 2010 regular season with a 7-11 overall record and a 5-5 mark in the MPSF. The Falcons, seeded fourth at this week's MPSF Championship Tournament, opens the tournament on Thursday, Nov. 11 against fifth-seeded Sacramento State in Sacramento, Calif., beginning at 2 p.m. (PT).
