DENVER – UNLV’s Danny Musovski and Air Force’s Trey Pujats have been named Western Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for Oct. 30 – Nov. 5. The honor marks Pujats second of the season.
Pujats, a senior defensive midfielder from Keller, Texas (Keller HS), commanded the Falcon defense to its 14th win of the season, holding UMKC to just one shot on goal in a 2-1 overtime win. He played all 99 minutes in the match and has totaled 1,651 minutes this season.
Musovski, a senior forward from Henderson, Nev. (Liberty HS), helped the Rebels lock up the second seed in this week WAC Men’s Soccer Tournament with a pair of goals on the road in a 4-1 victory at Grand Canyon. He scored his first goal in the 23rd minute and then scored an insurance goal in the 76th minute for his 14th score of the season. He leads the WAC in both goals and points, ranking fourth nationally in the latter with 34.
Other offensive nominees: Air Force’s Jaric Marton scored the game-winning goal in the 99th minute as the Falcons concluded an undefeated season in WAC play with a 8-0-2 record … Grand Canyon’s Niki Jackson scored his 40th career goal in a 4-1 loss at home to UNLV … San José State’s Miguel Castillo scored his first goal of the season as the game-winner in a 1-0 win against CSU Bakersfield … UT Rio Grande Valley’s Ilias Kosmidis assisted on the first goal and score the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win at UIW.
Other defensive nominees: UNLV’s Adam Musovski anchored the UNLV backline that limited GCU to just five total shots on goal in a 4-1 win.
